Global consulting, engineering, and quality control firm, Enertis Applus+, with extended expertise in the renewable energy and storage sectors, has provided its owner’s engineering services for Alten Energías Renovables’ 55 MWp Kesses 1 PV project, located in Eldoret, Kenya.
The installation is already in operation, and it generates around 123,000 MWh/year of clean energy, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 245,000 Kenyan households.
Within the framework of this collaboration, Enertis Applus+ provided a multidisciplinary team for the pre-construction, construction, and commissioning phases of the project.
In the pre-construction phase, Enertis Applus+ performed a technical review of the detailed engineering prepared by the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company. This service aims at confirming design adequacy and compliance with the required specifications, regulations, and codes.
During the construction phase, Enertis Applus+ provided Alten Energías Renovables with an on-site team of qualified engineers and specialists that are supported by a multidisciplinary back-office team to ensure effective project management.
In addition, the firm monitored the construction activities to verify compliance with the project documents assumptions regarding the technical specifications, quality requirements, and time schedule. Moreover, it supervised the construction of the interconnection facilities and supported the client in the management of the relationship with the grid operator.
Finally, Enertis Applus+ has supervised the commissioning phase, certifying that the installation complies with all the established requirements.
