Enertis Applus+ drives development of over 11 GWh of BESS projects in Chile with new financial closings

- Enertis Applus+ acted as an independent technical advisor in the financial closing of Verano Energy’s Domeyko hybrid solar + BESS project and the BESS system for Grenergy’s Elena solar PV project.
- In Chile, Enertis Applus+ has accumulated experience of 2.7 GW / 11.9 GWh in BESS projects that have already reached financial closure, plus an active portfolio of 4.4 GW / 15 GWh in advanced stages of financing.
Madrid, September 15, 2025.- Enertis Applus+, a global engineering consultancy firm with extensive expertise in the renewable and storage sectors, has strengthened its position as one of the leading independent technical advisors for the financing of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Chile. This achievement is consolidated after having supported two new strategic projects: Verano Energy’s Domeyko hybrid solar + BESS plant and the BESS system that will be co-located with Grenergy’s Elena solar PV plant.
The Domeyko project involves an investment of 204 million dollars and combines 83 MW of solar generation with 300 MW / 660 MWh of battery storage. Meanwhile, the Elena BESS system has 446 MW / 3.5 GWh of storage capacity, with an investment of 270 million dollars. The Elena BESS system is part of the Oasis de Atacama macro-project, recognized as one of the largest energy storage developments in the world with a total capacity of 11 GWh and almost 2 GW of solar power.
As part of the services provided, Enertis Applus+ carried out technical due diligence reports for both projects. These include comprehensive assessments that validate technical, environmental, and financial aspects, verifying compliance with the required quality codes and standards and identifying potential technical-economic risks.
With these new milestones, Enertis Applus+ has now accumulated experience in BESS projects in Chile totaling 2.7 GW / 11.9 GWh that have already reached financial close. Additionally, the company currently maintains an active portfolio of 4.4 GW / 15 GWh in advanced stages of the financing process.
Among the previously announced notable projects is Atlas Renewable Energy’s BESS del Desierto, one of the largest standalone storage systems in Chile and Latin America, with a capacity of 200 MW of power and 800 MWh of storage.
Álvaro Velasco, Regional Manager LATAM of Enertis Applus+, has highlighted: “The participation of Enertis Applus+ as an independent technical advisor in projects such as Domeyko and the Elena BESS system consolidates our leadership in providing specialized technical advisory services for critical infrastructure for the energy transition. These milestones not only confirm the solidity of our technical approach but also reflect the growing relevance of energy storage as a pillar for the integration of renewables in Latin America.”
Enertis Applus+ has had a permanent office in Chile since 2012, while Applus+ has been operating in the country since 1998 in sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, mining, and energy.
