Enertis Applus+ to accelerate its expansion in Italy with appointment of new Consultancy Lead, Simone Prato

  • Enertis Applus+ has been operating in Italy since 2010, providing consulting, engineering, and quality control services to more than 100 PV and energy storage projects, with a total capacity of 3.7 GW.
  • In his new role as Consultancy Lead, Prato brings his in-depth knowledge of the Italian energy market and regulatory framework.

Simone Prato has been appointed by Enertis Applus+, a leading global consulting, engineering, and quality assurance firm in the renewable energy and storage solutions sectors, to lead the company’s expansion in Italy.

A double Master in Energy Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino with a specialisation in Innovation Management (Alta Scuola Politecnica), Prato specialised in renewable energy and energy storage technologies during an exchange program at Chalmers University in Gothenburg (Sweden) and a research grant at the Fondazione ENI Enrico Mattei (FEEM) in Milan.

After working at Fichtner Italia and Enel Green Power, he joined Enertis Applus+ as Italy Consultancy Lead, leading technical due diligence processes and providing clients with value-added consultancy services on renewable energy and storage projects.

His in-depth knowledge of the Italian energy market and regulatory framework will contribute to accelerate Enertis Applus+ expansion in Italy. Since 2010, when it started operating in the country, Enertis Applus+ has worked on more than 100 PV and storage projects, reaching an accumulated experience of 3.7 GW providing consulting, engineering, and quality control services. This appointment also contributes to strengthening the activity of the Applus+ Group in the Italian market, where it has been operating since 2011 in different industries, mainly renewable energy, infrastructure, conventional sources of energy, oil and gas.

“With 25 GW of installed solar PV capacity, the Italian market is growing at a sustained pace. Up to 2030, the country is expected to install around 8 GW of new solar PV capacity and 10 GWh of energy storage capacity every year. Enertis Applus+ can make a decisive contribution to this growth by providing its expertise in consulting, engineering, and quality control services,” explained Simone Prato.
