Madrid, December 17, 2024.- Global consulting, engineering and quality control firm, Enertis Applus+, with extensive expertise in the renewable energy and storage sectors, has acted as an independent technical advisor for the financing of numerous hybrid and standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Chile. With over 880 MW / 3.5 GWh of BESS projects that have reached financial close and an additional 1.7 GW / 5.8 GWh in the final stages of the financing process, Enertis Applus+ has established itself as one of the leading independent technical advisors for energy storage projects in Chile.
Enertis Applus+ provided technical due diligence services, conducting in-depth evaluations of each project’s technical, environmental, and financial factors to ensure compliance with quality codes and standards and to identify potential technical-economic risks.
Among these projects, Enertis Applus+ supported Grenergy Renovables in Victor Jara, a hybrid plant that combines 230 MW of solar PV capacity plus 1.3 GWh of BESS. This plant corresponds to phase three of the Oasis de Atacama, the largest BESS project in the world with a capacity of nearly 11 GWh and almost 2 GW of solar energy.
Additionally, Enertis Applus+ contributed to Atlas Renewable Energy’s related company BESS del Desierto, one of the largest standalone energy storage systems in Chile and Latin America with 200 MW of power and 800 MWh of storage capacity. This system will be co-located with the Sol del Desierto solar PV plant in the Antofagasta region.
Álvaro Velasco, LATAM Regional Manager at Enertis Applus+, emphasized the importance of the company’s track record: “Since 2018, Enertis Applus+ has been at the forefront of energy storage, with a commitment to innovation and technical rigor. We are proud to continue supporting renewable energy and BESS projects that are essential to advancing Latin America’s energy transition.”
Enertis Applus+ has had a permanent office in Chile since 2012 and Applus+ has been operating in the country since 1998 in sectors such as renewables, infrastructure, mining and energy.
